Eventually, anyone with basic computer skills will be able to create original interactive online audio content that could “make a difference”, especially in educational applications. Here is a working example:

Interactive Audio Story:  ”A Great Morning In Louisiana”
This is a working example of interactive online audio:

Directions: After you click on the link directly above, just move your mouse over the individual sentences and click on any sentence to hear immediate audio. Click on the image to hear all of the sentences without interruption. To pause and resume audio, click on the red pause button. That’s it!

This technology is at the earliest stage of adoption. Free templates that include all “source files”, with tutorials designed for “non-techies”, will be available by September 1, 2011. The goal is to share this technology freely, without restrictions.

Q. Will I be able to get tutorials and finalized editable templates by September 1, 2011?
A. That’s the goal.

Q. Will you share everything you have?
A. When available on September 1, 2011, you will be able to obtain all of the files described here without restriction. Any related tutorials used in graduate courses in Instructional Technology will be made available freely. Everything you get will be open source. Once you get the files, you are free to modify and develop anything you like without limitations.

Q. Is there a book about this?
A. This is quite new. There is no book about this… yet. A book is being finalized as a practical resource for teachers who want to create their own original interactive online audio content. No “coding skills” are assumed… or required! When it is ready for publication, an announcement will be made here.

Q. Who are you?
A. As an Associate Professor, I teach at an excellent accredited public university (8,000 full time students) in northern Louisiana. This institution offers very inexpensive tuition rates. This is my “bio”.

Q. If I am interested in getting a Master’s Degree in Instructional Technology, could I contact you?
A. Yes, of course. ULM offers a 100% online accredited graduate program In Instructional Technology.
